How not to install viruses?

Are there people here who know if it is possible to check the file before downloading it? On some site or some program? I just want to install a minecraft mod from this site Gulliver Mod 1.6.4 – Grow to Giant Size or Shrink to Tiny, but I'm afraid to download a virus or miner along with the mod, I don't want to reinstall Windows and lose the files I need, who has any thoughts about this?

Hi! You can check if the website is safe (lock in the top-left of your screen) and if you're really not sure, you can either use an antivirus/VPN either not install it; that's what i usually do
